‘An enthralling, atmospheric and utterly engaging show…. five stars‘ (Matt Hemley, The Stage)
‘This is a bold, brilliant achievement: a compulsive ‘Othello’ of nightmarish conviction’ (Lucy Powell, Time Out Critics’ Choice)
OTHELLO
A site-specific horror experience
5th July – 5th August 2011
Nominated for four Off West End Awards including Best Director and Best Actor (Cary Crankson as Iago), this bold reimagining of Shakespeare’s tale of jealousy, obsession and sex was performed over the ruins of Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre under the South Bank. Drawing on Grand Guignol, Kubrick, and the uniquely disturbing quality of London’s most fascinating archaeological space, the production was a sell-out site-specific period horror.
